About

About

Sacred Heart Catholic School is a parochial school, in partnership with the Diocese of Fort Worth, offering pre-kindergarten through 12th grade Catholic education. Founded in 1890, Sacred Heart Catholic School is nestled in the heart of Muenster, a quaint German Catholic community in North Texas, located just 1.5 hours north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. At Sacred Heart, students are provided with a high-quality Catholic education, in which the Faith is not taught simply as an academic subject, but is interwoven into the entire curriculum.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

Sacred Heart Catholic School, in partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth and the local community, is purposefully developing the whole person for the betterment of the body of Christ. Our parish, faculty and community sustain high standards while nurturing the development of a lifelong love of learning and community involvement. Catholic doctrine and social teaching provide a foundation for the growth of all students at Sacred Heart.

MISSION STATEMENT

Sacred Heart Catholic School is a community in which all members (parents, teachers, students and clergy) assume responsibility for living and imparting a life of faith, service and integrity. Our mission is to create faithful servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus who will serve as spiritual, moral and intellectual leaders in our community and the wider world.

Parish

While the central classroom of Catholic education and evangelization is reserved for the home, a primary mission of Sacred Heart Parish is to assist in the building up of future generations of Catholic saints. The Parish achieves this mission through Sacred Heart Catholic School. Located on Parish grounds, Sacred Heart Catholic School was founded in 1890 and is the only remaining PreK-12 Catholic school in the Fort Worth Diocese. As a ministry of the Church, our Parish community is dedicated to the promotion, support and continued success of Sacred Heart Catholic School.

The Parish contributes to the financial security of the school in the form of property and building sustentation, monetary subsidies and more.

Additionally, the Parish’s present Capital Campaign: “Our Time, Our Community, Our Future,” includes many school facility maintenance projects developed in an effort to fortify the existing foundations and future growth of the school.

Sacred Heart Parish also supports the school through faith formation, cooperative leadership and volunteer services. Sacred Heart students are provided with many opportunities to be of service to the Church. Students regularly serve as lectors, cantors, altar servers and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion at Mass. Many of our Sacred Heart students and families are involved in Parish life from participation in youth and adult ministries to volunteering their time, talents and service to the Church. At Sacred Heart, we are not just a parish and school—we are a family of God.

Be Spiritual

To say Faith is part of Sacred Heart would be selling the school short. Faith and Catholic tradition are immersed into every aspect of the school. Students and teachers are encouraged to talk about God and pray. Students in grades 1-12 attend Mass three times a week, while Montessori children attend once a week. Religious formation classes are attended by all students on a daily basis. Our students also attend Adoration on a weekly basis and are prepared for Holy Sacraments including First Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation. Our students are also encouraged to perform works of service and mercy through school-sponsored mission trips, community service opportunities and outreach. The faith at Sacred Heart is unwavering.

Part of our Spiritual Guidance is as follows:

Be Prepared

Our school offers a rigorous and well-rounded academic environment. At Sacred Heart, our curriculum is designed to prepare students for admission to top colleges and universities, as well as for the challenges and choices they will face as productive citizens.

Be Competitive

Sacred Heart has a long standing tradition of excellence in sports. Our sports program is not based on an exclusive “try out” system. Rather, all students are encouraged to participate in sports to further develop them as a whole person. Our coaches work tirelessly with student athletes to cultivate their talents and make them strong competitors. Students are taught about teamwork, perseverance and determination in all aspects of life.

Be Creative

Fine Arts are an important part of any quality education. At Sacred Heart, students have the opportunity to receive instruction and display their talents in foreign language, art and music. TAPPS One Act Play and Visual Art, Robotics and Strings Orchestra are just some of the many fine arts programs offered for students at Sacred Heart. All children are encouraged to participate in our fine arts programs to build upon their creativity, self confidence and God-given talents.

Success Rates

On average, our students routinely score well above the state and national standardized tests, including the Iowa/CogAT Basic Skills achievement tests for grades 3-8 and the ACT and SAT for high school students.

Over the past two years, our graduates earned $1.7 million in scholarships with 11% earning fully paid scholarships to the college of their choice. We’ve also had Hunt Scholars, Terry Scholars, McKnight Scholars and Chancellor Scholars.
