Dance the Night Away
Sacred Heart Catholic School sponsors evening events for both parents and students, as well as after school activities. As is the case during the school day, students and guests are expected to conduct themselves and dress in a way that is acceptable and appropriate. Provided below is our SHCS formal and semi-formal event policies, guest forms, dress code and guidelines.
IMPORTANT POLICIES:
No same-gendered couples/guests will be allowed.
Alcohol is prohibited. Those exhibiting behavior symptomatic of alcohol or drug consumption will not be permitted to attend the event.
Costumes are not permitted at semi-formal or formal dances.
In most cases once a student has left the event, they will not be allowed to re-enter without approval from the event sponsor/chaperones.
Homeschooled students may attend Sacred Heart Catholic School formal and semi-formal events under the following guidelines. They must:
- Adhere to the Dress Code.
- Have junior or senior status with a state-accredited homeschooling association.
- Be a member of a registered and contributing family in good standing with the Catholic Church through Sacred Heart Parish in Muenster, Texas.
DRESS CODE FOR GIRLS:
The following guidelines are to be followed when selecting proper attire for formal and semi-formal events such as, but not limited to, prom and homecoming. The modesty guidelines for the girls’ policy are taken from Pure Fashion, an international faith-based program designed for girls ages 14-18 to help young women rediscover and reaffirm their innate value and authentic femininity. Any questions regarding dresses need to be directed to Mrs. Taylor.

No visible cleavage or midriff (front, back and/or side).

No 2-piece dresses.

The dress must consist of solid fabric throughout. No sheer material may be used to cover these areas.

Strapless dresses are permitted as long as the neckline is straight across.

The neckline should not be lower than four fingers below the collarbone and cannot extend into the breast area, showing cleavage of any type.

The material can not be sheer, very thin or spandex. It must be a solid material to ensure modesty and dignity of our young ladies.

The backs must be modest, dipping no lower than can be worn with a standard strapless bra that fits at the shoulder blade. No bra parts can be visible when the dress is properly worn.

The torso midsection must be completely covered- no cutouts, holes, slits, illusion fabric or straps, etc.

Sheer/illusion fabric material can not be used to cover this area. Solid material must be used.

Any slit in the dress should be no higher than mid thigh.

Dress length should not be any shorter than four fingers above the top of the kneecap.

Spaghetti straps and halter tops are acceptable following the guidelines from above concerning cleavage.

All dresses must be approved by administration prior to the event. Pictures can be used but must clearly show the front, side and back of the dress.
- Ladies must wear a shawl, cardigan or jacket while attending Mass. We are to be respectful when in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Note: Just because a dress has been approved previously does not mean it will be approved this time. Please ensure your choice fits the aforementioned code.
ANYONE NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THIS AFOREMENTIONED CODE WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO THE EVENT. STUDENTS THAT BRING NON-SHCS STUDENTS AS GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE THEIR GUESTS ARE IN COMPLIANCE. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Prom Guidelines and Policies:
Let the clothing be an advertisement of your dignity as a young lady. Walk, stand and sit with dignity. Think of yourself as a person who deserves respect. Ask for it by dressing in a dignified manner.
GUESTS:
Students wishing to take guests who are not current SHCS students must complete a Guest Form, which can be obtained via the school website, and have it signed by their Principal. It is up to the discretion of the Principal to allow guests to attend SHCS events. Guests must comply with the stated Dress Code for Formal and Semi-Formal Events and Dances above. It is the responsibility of the SHCS student to make sure his/her guest knows the dress code guidelines and rules and is compliant with the aforementioned. Administration has the final say if a guest is permitted to attend the event. All guests must be under the age of 21, and no guests may be younger than Freshman in High School.
STUDENTS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO SACRED HEART CATHOLIC SCHOOL FORMAL OR SEMI-FORMAL EVENTS.
